Financial Aid
School Code: 041580
Contact Our Financial Aid Advisor: dnicholson@metrobeautyacademy.com
Financial Aid at Metro Beauty Academy
Financial Aid at Metro Beauty Academy helps students pay for their education and some essential living expenses while attending our Cosmetology program. (FAFSA is not eligible for our Esthetics or Nail Technician programs. We offer other funding assistance such as Salliemae.com, Pheaa.org, Metro Beauty Academy’s monthly payment plan, and Scholarships)
Financial aid is mainly awarded based on financial need. It is designed to work alongside other resources such as:
- Family support
- Student employment
- Personal savings
- Assistance from other sources
Every student’s situation is different, so financial aid packages are customized based on individual circumstances.
Federal Financial Aid Programs
Students at Metro Beauty Academy may qualify for federal aid programs, including:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Direct Stafford Loan
- Federal Parent PLUS Loan
Our Financial Aid Department works closely with each student and provides personal guidance throughout the process.
What Is Financial Need?
Financial need is the difference between:
- The cost of education at Metro Beauty Academy, and
- The amount the government determines that you and your family can contribute.
This contribution is calculated using information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The government uses a standard formula to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The remaining balance after this calculation is considered your financial need.
General Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for most financial aid programs, students must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Be enrolled at least part-time in a Metro Beauty Academy program
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic and Attendance Progress
- Not be in default on previous student loans
- Male students 18 or older must register with the Selective Service
Federal Loan Entrance Counseling
Students receiving federal loans must complete Entrance Loan Counseling before loan funds can be applied to their account.
This session explains:
- How student loans work
- Your responsibilities as a borrower
- Loan repayment expectations after graduation
The student (not the parent) must complete this counseling to ensure they understand their loan responsibilities.
You may need about 30 minutes to complete the process. Information you may need includes:
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Two personal references (name, address, phone)
If you need help, the Metro Beauty Academy Financial Aid Department can guide you through the process.
National Student Loan Database
The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is the U.S. Department of Education’s central database for student aid.
Through NSLDS, students can view:
- Federal loans
- Federal grants
- Loan balances and details
This system gives students a complete overview of their federal student aid history.
